Michelle practises in family law, criminal law and personal injuries in Melbourne and on circuit.
Background
Michelle came to the Bar with a strong background in litigation and in criminal law, procedure and evidence.
Admitted to practice in 2000, she initially worked in commercial and insurance litigation at Ebsworths and later Maddocks. During that time, Michelle acted for various insurers, government agencies and regulatory bodies. Michelle then joined ExxonMobil where she gained an understanding of the petrochemical industry.
Before signing the Bar Roll in May 2005, Michelle was a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions where she instructed in County and Supreme Court jury trials. These included prosecutions under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environment Protection Act. Michelle also appeared regularly as an advocate in the County Court in Melbourne and on circuit.
Having an interest in international law, in early 2005 Michelle completed a clerkship at the Superior Court of California, San Francisco, with a criminal judge.
Michelle is a qualified ski and snowboard instructor and taught at Mt Buller Ski School from 1993 to 2006. She is president of the Victorian Bar Snowsports Club.
Michelle is also a keen bridge player.
