Michelle comes to the Bar with a strong background in criminal law and procedure and prior litigation experience.



Admitted to practice in 2000 she initially worked in commercial and insurance litigation at Ebsworth & Ebsworth, and later Maddocks. During that time, Michelle acted for various insurers and regulatory bodies for professional associations.



Michelle then joined ExxonMobil's Human Resources Department, gaining a strong understanding of the petrochemical industry and the operational complexities of a diversified corporate.



Before signing the Bar Roll in May 2005, Michelle was a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions where she was responsible for the conduct of County and Supreme Court trials. These included prosecutions under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environment Protection Act. Michelle also appeared regularly as an advocate in bail applications, pleas and appeals in the County Court in Melbourne and on circuit.



Having an interest in international law, in early 2005 Michelle completed a clerkship at the Superior Court of California, San Francisco, with a criminal judge.



Michelle is a qualified ski and snowboard instructor and has taught at Mt Buller Ski School since 1993, a pastime about which she is passionate!
